about me

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Solonge Italiano and I am the face behind …simply Solonge.

I am a former PR pro turned mama with a penchant for good fashion, good restaurants, good coffee and great people.

The world of social media has presented a powerful tool for connectivity in the 21st century. While it is often a highlight reel filled with unrealistic images and messages, it can also be a great resource of inspiration and comfort for many. Shying away from the magazine perfectionist front, I decided to delve into topics that are sometimes considered taboo, in order to raise awareness and make a difference.

Life for me hasn’t been shy of its adversities. My father left when I was only nine months old and I was raised by a hardworking single mother. I was bullied through early high school, grew up to face the challenges of living with a family member who suffered substance abuse, faced the hurdles of life with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), suffered countless panic attacks, experienced sudden loss of my cousin and stepmother and sadly experienced my own pregnancy losses, including birthing my sons Leo and Cruz in February 2018 at only 23 weeks gestation. They are no longer with us.

On the flip side, I experienced some of the greatest pleasures in life – marrying my soul mate and man of my dreams, Phil, travelling the world, succeeding in my corporate career and most notably becoming a mother.

The hurdles I have overcome have led me on the greatest journey of self discovery. I unveiled a hidden strength I didn’t know existed. And while I used to think my past was my biggest anchor, I’ve since realised it is my biggest asset. I’ve chosen to harness those experiences, good and bad, and transform those energies into something more powerful – a voice for those suffering adversity and a light of positivity, kindness and love!

Whilst I will dwell into some of the darker experiences mentioned above, in hope to help some of you, my main purpose is to leave you feeling a little happier than when you first visited – after all, happiness is contagious, so I hope you catch it.

So please, sit back, relax, pour yourself a glass of vino and enjoy a candid view into my life, loves, style and motherhood. And, don’t be shy to drop me a line and engage, I would love that. If I can at least impact just one of you, then I have achieved what my heart has set out to do. I hope you enjoy! Here goes…
